Why donate ?

Prebuilt images ( downloads) are now part of the main PXES
distribution. Including ISO, NBI, and initrd.
You could be running a PXES thin client in the next 5 minutes, just
download, burn and boot, PXES will do the rest.
Linux Terminal Server Project ( ltsp) compatibility session, see
Release Notes
for details.
PXES Universal Linux Thin Client
PXES is the micro Linux distribution allowing you to build thin clients
or diskless workstations.
Hardware not suitable for other uses like current desktop OS can be
recycled and converted into a thin client.
See the complete list of features.
The configuration is made with an easy to use graphical tool which
guide you through the required steps.
After booting the thin client will be capable of accessing any
Unix/Linux XDM (X Display Manager) server presenting the
graphical login screen or any Microsoft Terminal Server through RDP
(Remote Desktop Protocol), Citrix ICA server or
VNC server.
This approach doesn't use NFS (Network File System) making it
ideal to access Microsoft Terminal Server with no need of deploying
a Unix/Linux NFS server or accessing services over
low speed connections presents in WAN (Wide Area Networks) or
Internet VPN (Virtual Private Network) environments.
Because no local devices, such diskette, cd-rom or hard disks
are needed, you can dramatically reduce the TCO
(Total Cost of Ownership) with clients as thin as possible.
This means for example that you can reduce the virus and security
incidents in your network to a minimun.
But if you need such devices you can configure the clients to use sound,
local print services, USB, cd-rom, etc.
By the way, no mechanical parts means among many things:
less noise, less energy and fewer failures.
PXES 0.5.1 (stable)
This is a major step in
PXES release.
There are a lot of improvements, going from easier configuration
tool to automatic hardware detection for some kind of local devices
and security enhancements.
All the graphical session types were finished.
The resulting image with a fully functional Linux, X Windows system
and graphical clients fits in less than 5 Mb compressed.
The documentation has been completed and there is a
Quick start guide
helping you to configure PXES as soon as possible.
If you want to see the details of the installation and deployment
of PXES see the readme
RDC 0.2-Beta2
RDC or Remote Desktop Connection is a
GUI front end for rdesktop, resembling the
Microsoft counterpart.
This lets you select the Terminal Server
to connect to as well as the connection
properties, such as screen resolution,
colors, performance parameters, etc.
You can look at the screenshots to see
it working.
There're other alternatives of rdesktop front ends.
You may want to try tsclient a very good GUI written in C and GTK 2.0.
